Counterfeit Products are Causing Large Losses: What? How? Why?

Recorded On August 20 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Presenters: Paul Gramann – The Madison Group & Kyle Farnam – Cozen O’Connor

Paul Gramann is the President of The Madison Group.  He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin- Madison from 2003-2013.  He is involved in the design verification and failure analysis of plastic parts and is co-editor of the Injection Molding Handbook.  He is a contributing author to the second edition of the book Failure Analysis and Prevention. He currently serves on ASTM’s D20 (plastics) committee and on Underwriter Laboratories technical panels UL 94, 746 1692 and 1694.

Kyle Farnam’s practice involves handling a wide variety of property damage claims. He has represented the insurance industry and individual owners in cases involving construction defects, product liability, and maritime losses. In addition to being admitted to state and federal courts in Washington, Kyle has handled cases in Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Hawaii.

This webinar will discuss counterfeit products and how they can be the cause of failures that lead to large losses. This includes counterfeit products that are made by a false company, substitution of authentic plastic resin with cheaper materials that will not perform; the elimination of critical additives (flame retardants), and falsifying documents claiming product meets industry standards (i.e. UL).
